Julian t. Yang
Bethlehem, PA

During the pursuit of Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and International Relations at Lehigh University, Yang served as a sports beat reporter and photographer for The Brown and White, covering Mountain Hawks home games across multiple sports. Additionally, during his internship in the Lehigh Athletics multimedia office, Yang contributed to the coverage of Lehigh’s home games on ESPN+ as a camera operator.

Outside Lehigh campus, Yang’s deep passion for horse racing has led him to visit numerous racetracks across the United States and internationally. As an aspiring media professional, he developed a habit of documenting his experiences through photos at each track. This passion ultimately earned him an internship with The New York Racing Association, where he joined the crew to provide television coverage of the Saratoga summer racing series on Fox Sports.

It’s a college campus: once in a while, something unusual happens. On the crucial voting day of 2024, the Banana Factory, the main voting location in South Bethlehem, encountered technical difficulties that caused congestion, leaving many to wait for hours or even lose their chance to vote.

New York Times reporters were also present, covering this electoral loophole. As student reporters responsible for the college, we were pleased to see how Lehigh students were able to engage in meaningful discussions with local residents, both actively shaping the Bethlehem community.

Lehigh also brings fun to the local community, when the annual bed races took place before rivalry week. Students, faculty, local residents, and public service departments all teamed up to compete in this charity event, strengthening the bonds between Lehigh, the major presence in Bethlehem, with the city and its people.
