Julian t. Yang
Bethlehem, PA

During the pursuit of Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and International Relations at Lehigh University, Yang served as a sports beat reporter and photographer for The Brown and White, covering Mountain Hawks home games across multiple sports. Additionally, during his internship in the Lehigh Athletics multimedia office, Yang contributed to the coverage of Lehigh’s home games on ESPN+ as a camera operator.

Outside Lehigh campus, Yang’s deep passion for horse racing has led him to visit numerous racetracks across the United States and internationally. As an aspiring media professional, he developed a habit of documenting his experiences through photos at each track. This passion ultimately earned him an internship with The New York Racing Association, where he joined the crew to provide television coverage of the Saratoga summer racing series on Fox Sports.

07  2024 Breeders' Cup World Championships, Saturday
NOV. 2, 2024

LOCATION: Del Mar Thoroughbred Club
WINNERS:  Sierra Leone - Classic
          Full Serrano - Dirt Mile
Aiden O’Brien has won nearly all of them, but not the Classic. Giant’s Causeway ran a respectable second against Tiznow in that forever epic battle, but for the next two decades, his Coolmore army sent a sum of 15 challengers to the world championship, most of them were turf runners, and most of them finished out of the money. That didn’t stop him with another campaign, City of Troy, a son of Justify who was too fast on the grass and should do just fine on the Del Mar surface.

They had the world whispering about their chances, but it was not meant to be for the Ballydoyle trainee. A trip as comfortable as Johnny could ever imagine brought Fierceness into a winning position coming out of the far turn. But then came the kicker, a French guy in pink color onboard a dark horse. Much like the Tiznow story but just in reverse, a whole year of setbacks turned to triumph on the biggest stage for Sierra Leone, a Coolmore horse beat a homeland hero 20 years later.

Life is a circle, as always.
